Minutes for the Nene Valley Surgery PPG meeting held on 18th June 2025

Correction to spelling of JM name

Matters Arising

Purple Patient Leaflet for those people who do not understand ANIMA. Staff to use patient’s email with their permission. Aim to improve help where needed.

 

Surgery Update – Jessica Bruton

· New staff member Lauren to help the medical secretary

· Dr Raj – new to the surgery. Took time out to learn the system. Dr Barber also now working at the surgery

· Pharmacist working within the PCN

· Dr Nicholson retiring in April 2026. New partnership taking over the surgery. Dr Warren also retiring

· There will be 3 full time GPs.

· Dr Patel not returning

· CQC reported in 2023 that the Surgery needed improvement. In October 2024 the ICB found improvement had been achieved

· The Surgery now has 7055 patients registered. 4000+ appointments – 222 cancellations -patients asked to give notice in advance, if possible, to enable appointment time to somebody else.

 

PPG Activities

BC: Hermitage House Care Home will give our PPG a room for events/activities. BC to pursue for the autumn. Suggestions were making puppets, filling in forms, coffee, and chat. BC asked for any other ideas from PPG members

· BC reported that we were too late asking for a stall at the Charter Fair but would make sure to make the request in time next year

· RT said he takes his wife to coffee mornings at Hermitage House some Thursdays

· Fund Raising- members understand that the Surgery would appreciate some funds towards purchasing a Blood Pressure monitor and an ECG machine- Doppler. It was suggested that if we could show pictures of the equipment people would know what we were trying to raise money for.

 

AR

· Wellness – AR is in a build-a-business programme to set up this initiative as some sort of official entity that can receive grants to produce it.

· AR would be leading a Wellness Walk in Fermyn Woods later in June. Poster on the PPG Board

· AR also informed that there was a men’s group called the Brotherhood in Thrapston who meet on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the

· Luel Studios, 7, Midland Road. There are also Brotherhood Groups in Burton Latimer, Oundle and Kettering.

 

Any Other Business

SW explained that Susan Sorrell was finding it difficult, because of family commitments, to attend all the ENPA (East Northants PPG Association) meetings representing Nene Valley Surgery.

SW asked if any member would volunteer to liaise with SW and cover for her at the meetings she was unable to attend.

There were no offers forthcoming

 

There being no further business the meeting was declared closed

 

The next PPG meeting will be held at the Community Library from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m.
