A prescription for medication may be issued following a consultation with a doctor.
A form will be issued detailing what is to be taken and when.
The prescription form can be taken to a chemist for the medication to be dispensed, or surgery dispensary if you qualify for this service, please check with surgery by phone or on your next visit.
A repeat prescription may be issued up to the recommended review date. After which point a medication review may be necessary.
Repeat prescriptions can either be requested:
All repeat prescription requests that arrive on the surgery premises before 10.00am will be available within 24 hours Monday to Friday.
Note that for requests received on a Saturday, collection day will be the following Monday after 2.00pm.
You will be given a computerised repeat prescription request slip (counterfoil) which allows you to tick the items you require when ordering. If you do not have a counterfoil for re-ordering purposes, please put your repeat prescription request in writing.
No repeat prescription requests will be taken over the telephone for medico-legal reasons.
We have a medico-legal duty to ensure that we review medication regularly, although some medication should be reviewed quite often others are only necessary annually. If you feel that you do not need a face to face consultation please make a telephone appointment.

If you have recently seen a consultant or specialist at hospital it may not be obligatory to re-attend the surgery for a review. If you are unsure please enquire with the dispensary staff.
