Local Patient Participation Report - Executive Summary

Background:

The Practice, with the assistance of its Patient Participation Group, conducted a survey of patients attending the surgery from 31 October until 25 November 2011. In all, 648 surveys were issued to patients
and 572 were returned for analysis.

Responses from the Survey

  • 96% Receptionists are very or mostly helpful
  • 87% Quite or fairly easy to contact Reception
  • 74% Always or mostly been able to see the doctor I prefer
  • 63% Tried successfully to book in advance more than two weeks
  • 80% Tried to make an appointment and if one not available, always or usually offered a useful alternative
  • 81% Definitely have confidence and trust in the doctor
  • 87% Definitely have confidence and trust in the practice nurse
  • 96% Very or Quite satisfied with the care received
  • 95% Would definitely or probably recommend the Surgery to new patients

New Appointment System

The most significant change arising from the comments received is the introduction of a revised appointment system for Same-Day appointments to ensure that availability meets demand. There will be a new leaflet available from 31 March 2012 for the patients explaining how to make an appointment to see a GP or Nurse.

Conclusion

As a Practice, as well as addressing the ‘bigger issues’ such as the appointment system, we should endeavour to encourage patients who have concerns, to come forward at the time so that we can work
together to improve our services and resolve any outstanding issues.
