Asthma Clinic

This is a condition that affects the lungs. It can also have a link with hay fever and eczema.

Asthma can make you:

  • Breathless
  • Wheezy
  • Cough and produce mucus
  • Experience a tight chest

It can be made worse by many things, “triggers”, such as a “cold”, pollen, cold weather, emotion, exercise, strong perfume to name a few. You can suffer Asthma because of environmental and genetic factors (family links).

Diagnosing Asthma

This is a reversible condition of the airways. Diagnosis is based upon the history and examinations of a patient together with “peak flow” monitoring or spirometry measurements.

Patients suffering from this condition are recommended to attend at least once a year for routine monitoring, and more often if on steroid treatment.

An asthma check is available from the practice asthma nurse or a doctor. If you have not received an automatic invite to attend in the last 12 months, please contact reception. See how do I ...? book an appointment.
